Pros

Some various, superficial things that people talk about frequently, but ultimately mask the fundamentals of what it's like to actually work here.

Cons

Looking for a fun and unique place to work where you collaborate closely and directly with developers, testers, designers and researchers to create and build an advanced, sought after product where you are valued, listened to and able to have direct input into the project? Awesome! Simply grab a time machine and travel back to the Product Development of 3 years ago, and work in the Product Development department at MINDBODY in 2013! If you're looking for a job in product development that's not like your average dev shop, and has some special things to offer, I recommend looking elsewhere. This department used to be a fun and unique place to work where people legitimately loved their jobs and loved coming in to work every day. Employees were happy, felt empowered and valued, and communication was the best I've seen at any job I've had. That magic is officially gone. Decisions are now made without any explanation. New procedures are rolled out without getting any employees' buy-in or input, and employees feel sad, deflated, and completely dis-empowered to make any changes. New information about the department and company is not communicated to the employees- feeling in the dark is an understatement. Various higher-ups have been brought in who have essentially swept through the department like a corporate tornadoes, making everything ordinary, un-fun, confusing and bureaucratic in their wakes. All this is extremely unfortunate. The various years I spent working inside these walls have literally been the best of my life. The past 6 months have been the worst.

Pros

Fun work environment Great software CEO seems to have a great vision for the company Work with a lot of cool companies

Cons

Lies all around, especially in Dallas office. Management changed comp structure that does not benefit the employees, although it's preached it does. Very micro managing. Able to tap phones and listen to any conversation to make sure you're following a script. SCRIPT. We are not 16 years old Very unprofessional management that just are combative when called out on their mistakes. Seems like they are covering up stuff. More like a call center. Not allowed to genuinely get involved in the business you are consulting because of script. A lot was promised but never delivered. Supposed to have on site massage therapist - never there. Supposed to have fun environment - never have any fun activities any more. Said we were given autonomy to work to get ahold of leads how we wanted - never given because of a 75 dial minimum with a script. Don't get a lot of knowledge of the product in remote offices so it takes a lot to reach out to experienced reps/engineers. RSM's seem readily available to help. Some have no management background and were handed jobs because of experience in the software from running a business with it. Do not know how to manage so problems persist and never handled properly. Company seems to have grown too quickly and is now on the decline. Do not work here! No one has been satisfied since being hired. Worst job ever taken.

Pros

flexible hours and wellness bucks

Cons

Pay is just terrible. I'm sure HR will respond to his post saying something like "pay is appropriate for our region" but that it just BS. The majority of my coworkers at MINDBODY struggle to make ends meet, let alone live in SLO proper. If you work at MINDBODY, you'll likely have to commute 1-1.5 hours a day because SLO is unaffordable with a MINDBODY wage. Upper management is in a state of chaos. New blood from LA and SF are swarming in, ignoring the culture established, firing those they disagree with, and enacting changes that are making MINDBODY like every other tech company. The worst part is our CEO is two sided. He tells employees nothing will change after IPO, we'll keep our culture, we won't answer to wall street. Then in other venues, actions, and initiatives it seems his only focus is to drive up our stock price, fill the departments with outside talent (NOT PROMOTING FROM WITHIN) and drive our poor developers into the ground pushing out new products our customers don't want.

Thanks for your feedback! I completely understand and hear your concern about the company direction and culture, as we’ve reached new heights of growth, development, and achievement in recent years. During all this, there has been natural change as we’ve been continuing to seek improvements for our clients, processes, and teams. We embrace change here as part of our values because we humbly recognize that we can always improve upon the products and services that we provide to our clients. Our team members are our most valuable asset, and we have and always will provide opportunities for our team members to grow within the company through development plans. While compensation here differs from that of other areas such as the Bay Area and LA, our benefits are in place to supplement a healthy work-life balance with medical, dental, and vision plans, available amenities on and off site, and market researched wages. We encourage you to reach out to your business partner and/or manager to help address any additional concerns you may have.
