Pros

Coffee, snacks, parking, and bean bag chairs.

Cons

The goal of an intake coordinator is NOT to make sure that you as a patient is paired with a provider that is skilled and educated with the correct credentials for mental health needs treatment. The goal for the intake coordinator is to make sure that you the patient is paired with a provider that treats your age group, and is in network with your healthcare insurance. If the intake coordinator makes the mistake of pairing the patient with the wrong provider due to age group and insurance, the patient is still responsible for any out of pocket costs because it is still the patients responsibility to be aware of what providers accepts the insurance they have and to not rely on the intake coordinator for that information. You as the intake coordinator is not responsible for the patients care and experience with mindful therapy group. Your job is to only bring the new money in and it is billing’s job to collect the money in full. The intake coordinator role is a sales job. The company relies on intake coordinators to recruit new patients with “new to practice providers” so that new money can come into the company. You are required to make at least 20-25 appointments with new patients a day and about 100 new appointments for providers a week. Each appointment outside of insurance costs about 100 dollars. If you do not meet the metrics of making sure that you have scheduled at least 100 appointments with new patients a week, then you are not generating enough new income into the company and you will be placed on a probation period to improve your metrics or you will be fired for poor performance. If you become a high performing intake coordinator. You will be tasked with training new hires and staff members outside of the department. You will also be tasked to improve workflows and processes as well (a manager’s job). You will still need to keep up with your metrics and you will not be paid for the added tasks that are outside of your original job description. Pay raises only happen once a year, the raise is one dollar. Regardless if you generate thousands into the company, the company needs that money to buy other things like snacks, booze, and coffee for all office locations instead of paying you what you’re worth. The intake coordinator role requires that you are available 6 days a week between the hours of 7am to to 8pm. You are required to work at least 7.5 hours each day, never more than 40 hours a week, and you do not have any control of which days you work and for how long you will work the scheduled days. You will generate .5 hours in pto for every 40 hours worked. There is no holiday pay and all holidays are worked by all staff members except for management. If you are a person that will need a set schedule due to personal reasons like school, or have kids, this is not the job for you. If you are a person who wants to do good in the world, this is also not the job for you. You’re better off fulfilling that “ I want to help people” attitude at a local foodbank or something. Your ethics and morals will be tested daily for company loyalty. If you are a person of color, specifically black, this job is not for you. The work culture at this workplace is not designed for you to succeed in. This company is dominated by white woman. 95 percent of black people hired here don’t even make it past 1 year of employment. If you are already receiving unemployment benefits. you are making more through unemployment for simply not working. Keep the benefits, don’t throw it away to work here or find a better job. If you truly care for your own personal mental stability, This is not the job for you. You will be put into vulnerable positions, and any vulnerability you display will be used against you and masked as “cultivation plans”.

Pros

Clean, slightly above minimum wage for starting position, the therapists and NPs that I supported were wonderful, good training.

Cons

I worked at Mindful Therapy for a few months, but quickly realized as someone who wanted to move up in a company that there was no reason to stay. Upper management felt very toxic, so the idea of working directly with them was completely undesirable. The turnover at the lower levels was high. It felt like as soon as someone got the hang of the job, they'd leave because of some issue with upper management. As a result, everything felt understaffed and the work became too stressful to continue.
