Pros

830-5p workday. Mon - Fri. Weekends off.

Cons

If you can get past the massive invasion of your privacy this is the job for you. They have high definition cameras set up in every room in every office. You are told that the cameras are there for your protection. However, this is a bold faced lie. The cameras are used to punish and over see the employees. The employees live in fear of the repercussions from the "Watchful eye in the sky". You are constantly on edge as management uses the cameras to inflict punishment and send emails as to how you are violating arbitrary and pointless policies made up on the spot. They know when you are texting, when you are browsing, when you are answering a call from your family. They will use it against you and accuse you of violating company time. This isn't a company it's a micro-managing dictatorship. Further, the company does not want you to take leave...ever. In fact, they will punish you for it. You can't enjoy a single day with your family. You will be forced to answer company calls, read and respond to work emails, and be badgered by the staff on a near hourly basis. It got so bad, that my family started to wonder what was going on. Why am I constantly being bombarded with unnecessary calls and emails that I am told I must respond to immediately. WHILE ON VACATION. The management treats you like a child. There is nothing you can do without their approval. Here is an example: I arrived to work early just about everyday. Usually 15 minutes early. I will clock in at the appropriate time (830am) everyday. One day I was there at my usual early time. There was a meeting that a fellow specialist started that the boss needed to be a part of. Unfortunately, it meant that I could not clock in on time. I figured it would be no big deal to let HR know that I needed to adjust my clock-in time seeing as how I was in a meeting with the head of the company. I reached out to the HR through google hangouts (which is typically used for interoffice communication) and told the HR rep that I needed to adjust my time as I was in a meeting with the boss. She told me to fill out a time sheet, screen shot the hangout text of our communication on the time adjustment and cc her and another person in an email requesting the change of time. ... Yeah... One of the higher ups sends out emails all day discussing some new policy change. He requires that the emails be read. No problem. He then requires that you respond letting him know that you read the email. If you don't respond instantly he treats you like a petulant child demanding to know why you were so disrespectful to him and didn't respond to his emails. The company changes their policies on small things like using white out, wearing a tie, etc on what seems like a weekly basis. You are then scolded because you did not conform to the latest "dramatic" change. I had to clock in daily. Also had to post in a stupid hangouts chat where I was EVERYDAY. I had to send the same email to 3 separate people everyday detailing my activities for the day. How about this: I am an adult. I am not a child I do not need to the endless micro managing and endless inanity. The list is endless. YOU DO NOT WANT TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. You will be miserable. Do yourself a favor...If they call you, run.

Pros

Flexible schedule sometimes and no weekends.

Cons

Management is extremely greedy and does not care about patients at all. They corporate office is impolite and unprofessional. They will lie to you all day long and steal money from you to line their pockets. The commission structure is set up to make you fail and their prices are twice that of any competitors. Insurance is a completely useless.

Pros

Being able to help people hear better, especially through the Miracle Ear Foundation, is rewarding. Set schedule, no weekend hours at my location, paid holidays off. When sales are good, commission can be in the thousands per month.

Cons

Management is unprofessional, belittling and talks down to staff. High sales pressure and the prices are too expensive for our target demographic. When sales goals are not met, management treats you like you're a failure, yet they do little to help even when asked directly for advice or training. The focus on sales is far greater than the concern for doing what is best for the client. It often feels like you are expected to pressure clients to accept financing they cannot afford just so you can make the sale. I've had an elderly, fixed income client cry in my office because if they took on financing for new hearing aids, they would not be able to afford their rent. I often feel ashamed for asking people to spend so much when they are already struggling to get by. Base salary works out to roughly $12.50 per hour for a 40 hour week, which is pathetic for the amount of technical knowledge and skill needed to conduct a hearing evaluation, fit hearing aids and service them. No health insurance, no 401k, no vision, no dental, minimal paid time off. Nothing is put into writing, no employment contract, handbook or written expectations are given, and any verbally expressed expectations are subject to change without warning. This is a very stressful environment, with no room for advancement unless you intend to become a franchise owner.
