Pros

Good hospital, great reputation in Western NC and the State. Emphasis on patient care and ensuring patients and familys have a good experience while in the hospital. System is growing and there are lots of opportunities. Fairly decent benefits.

Cons

Benefits are eroding yearly. Nurse to patient ratio is often 5x1 on Cardio-Vascular units. Pay is much better in other regions of the country.

Thank you for all the work you do each day to care for our community. Thanks for the kudos-- Mission has a great reputation, and our patients and families are our top priority. We also take pride in having a robust and diverse selection of benefits for our team members: http://missionandme.mission-health.org/total-rewards/. Mission Health's Cardiovascular and Cardiology Units participate with IBM Watson/Truven to benchmark our staffing plans to ensure appropriateness. In our CVICU and CICU, our staffing ratios are typically 2 patients/RN, unless patient acuity dictates otherwise. On our Cardiac Stepdown Units (3 Heart, 4 Heart, 5 Heart) our RN staffing ratios are typically 3-4 patients/RN on days and 3-5 patients/RN on nights. Our Nursing Team is also supported by PCTs on each shift. Hope this helps!

Pros

The pay was descent. Loved the PTO

Cons

The company is all about hiding things. Every 2 years the Directors would change and upper management would have to reapply for their positions. The departments that worked well they tore apart. Now no one is happy .

Thanks for your work while you were a Mission employee, and for the feedback. I am not aware of the restructuring scenarios you are referring to, but we do have an emphasis within Mission to grow and develop our own employees for promotional opportunities. The Career Exploration Center is in place to support any employee interested in pursuing new roles, continuing education, or seeking support to transition within the system. They also can help our current team members articulate their skills and experiences on their resumes and in interviews. For appts, just contact careerexplorationcenter@msj.org. We also value the new ideas and fresh eyes that external new hires bring to our system, as we are ever-changing and evolving in healthcare.
