Pros

Highest quality jobs in the area, the people are almost always awesome

Cons

Ongoing efforts to reduce cost and staff (just part of the overall healthcare market right now), Mission has big business problems with only a medium size business ability to address them

Pros

Great nurse: patient ratios as compared to the Triad and other areas of NC. Many Med/surg floors just went to 1:5 after years of 1:4 so of course there is grumbling. Shared Governance is redesigned and leadership/management is listening! Great new clinical ladder where a nurse with MSN/certification can get a $5K_+bonus. Other bonuses for BSN/certification. Lots of certification support and tuition reimbursement. Unlike the Triad they hire AD nurses and encourage/support return to school.

Cons

Older staff is stuck in there ways. Time for new blood? Instead of complaining help with patient outcomes. Some victim mentality in some areas.

Pros

One of the biggest pros is helping people. There are many sick and people in need of assistance. Also, creating a safer environment and enhancing everyone’s feeling of safety.

Cons

Working 60-70 hours a week made it difficult to keep a work life balance. Although I enjoy what I do, I find myself missing out on my family.

Thanks for your feedback. Safety and relationship-centered leadership is indeed a focus, and we will continue to work on that moving forward. Work life balance is key, I am wondering you you have the opportunity to participate in the new Life XT Program that will be rolling out? It helps look at taking care of yourself holistically and helping you re-align the balance that is essential. If you are interested, contact talentacquisition@msj.org.
