Pros

The work was rewarding and fit my interests well... I loved what I did and felt my work was appreciated by my superiors. It was a great place to learn and grow. Moffitt offers numerous opportunities for work-life balance and also seminars & lectures where employees can learn more about current research in their field. They actually had an impressive schedule of guest lecturers.

Cons

Working for a research company is a somewhat unique situation and Moffitt uses a dual-report system where employees report to an administrative supervisor and principle investiagor. There is sometimes a disconnect between employees and administrative supervisor. It can sometimes be frustrating to have to report to an admin spvsr who you feel didnt know you or the caliber of your work. But I also recognize the benefits to such a system to allow investigators to focus on their expertise and not have to deal with the bureaucratic nonsense. I felt that I wasnt paid what my skills were worth when I was there... but don't we all? I worked there during the worst part of the recession and Moffitt was making serious cuts around the office (no coffee in the breakroom--couldnt even get your hands on a plastic fork!), but the employees recognized that times were hard and I think it was appreciated that these cuts were made rather than letting employees go.

Pros

The individuals who have a good work ethic work very hard. The staff in other departments (nursing, transportation, dietary, environmental) are rather pleasant. I cannot speak for any other location than the inpatient pharmacy.

Cons

The management at Moffitt has created an environment toxic to be around. They do not listen to suggestions from the staff actually doing the daily activities, which in turn make for more tiresome work daily. You leave everyday feeling defeated and tired. There is no teamwork that occurs in the inpatient pharmacy. It is a dictator run department and if you have a voice and want to make things improve you are blacklisted and monitored under a microscope from drinking water to how long you use the restroom in an effort to terminate. The technicians in the department don't typically last more than a year at the inpatient pharmacy and those select few who have managed longer than a year are clearly dead inside. Upper management has no care for the lower man on pole. Everyone is replaceable in current management's eyes it seems.

Pros

Good benefits and working with patients is rewarding

Cons

You get no sick days or holidays. Both must be used with PTO even if you get COVID. If you don't have any PTO and you get sick, you will get an occurrence (like a write up) which effects raises and promotions. Even If the Hospital is closed they will still take PTO. The PAR position is based on productivity. If you take time off with PTO, they will count your productivity for the day as zero. So basically you get graded even when you are not at work. Not worth the $14-$19 an hour
