Pros

they give you 8 "Credits" for free food a day.

Cons

Because Mohegan is on tribal land, they don't have to follow a lot of CT laws, you don't pay into FMLA, which might be a pro for some people, but it means no maternity leave. you have to use your PTO. under paid positions that ask too much of you. expect you to bend over backwards for them with no reward. difficulty with communication. lack of formality. no boundaries. upper management will tell you they want creative thinkers, problem solvers, innovators, and then you are punished for asking questions. A lot of hypocrites just wanting to exist in an echo chamber and gas light each other.

Pros

depending on department you can work with some really nice people. depending on department you may not have to work holidays. point system can be helpful if you get sick for an extended period but also double edged sword. hours were good in my department; decent opportunity for OT annual performance based raises

Cons

Depending on what department your in or if you have to deal with another department you may have to deal with some very nasty, disrespectful and vindictive people; seems to be majorly a frequent issue with entitled supervisors or tribal member employees who disregard the rules and get off scot free because they are tribal members as well as employees, very much a wide dual standard between tribal members, management/supervisors, and regular employees. some staff (supervisors/managers included) will lie and try to get you written up or fired for reporting them when you find them to have or see them break company policies. some supervisors and managers will defend you if they know the complaint is bogus, others won't. Frequently hear that federal laws and osha don't apply to them because they are a tribal casino on tribal land despite federal law and supreme court rulings saying otherwise; this is parroted by multiple departments and almost all members of management company wide as this is what everyone is told from orientation forward. many policies are geared towards the attitude that the employee's sole purpose is to work and that any other considerations are secondary to that; including those arising from events occuring at the workplace that are miss-managed or badly planned (points being assessed for being late when the company blocks you from getting in to clock in by closing areas or parking and then not following the schedule they posted and not notifying anyone of the discrepancy) large portion of the company has the "your a number not a person" mentality type. Many people do their job to the minimum level that is deemed acceptable, irregardless of the fact that it does not solve problems and creates more work for others. Others also purposely withhold information on solutions and issues when asked citing its their "job security" when it is not their prerogative to do so and they are the only person tasked with that but are not readily available when issues occur. annual raises are supposed to be from 1% to 5%, supervisors are told implicitly that they are not allowed to give 5% and to only ever give 3% at most to give the employee "something to work for" even if the employee has gone above and beyond in many cases and done their job to the best that can be reasonably expected.

Pros

Easy work Meet lots of cool people. Cool co-workers. That's about all I can say in the "pro" category but I need to make the 20 word minimum

Cons

Lack of management, poor management, management is UNDER QUALIFIED, management is unprofessional, management plays favorites. Part time workers are forced to work full time hours during their busy season without any opportunity to obtain full time benefits. During the winter months those same part timers struggle to feed their families because they only get ONE day on the schedule, two if they are lucky. Some even get NO DAYS at all... This company does NOT value their hard working employees..
