Pros
Best parts of this job was working with clients with psychosis, addictions and other severe mental health disorders. I learned a lot about the mental health system as a whole. Additionally the other clinicians were wonderful to work with and helped me through every step of the way. Thank god for them.
Cons
My manager was extremely narcissistic, unrealistic, unsupportive and created a hostile work environment. I did not feel safe at my workplace I was constantly harassed, and humiliated during team meetings. When I reported her to management nothing was done instead everything got worse. HR did nothing for me except stir the pot with her and she began to treat me even more poorly by attacking my character and work ethic etc. additionally this job is not what it is said to be, you will be exhausted, burnout and forget about why you even decided to go into mental health in the first place. The pay is good but it was not worth suffering for me. If you like being overworked and burnout this is the place for you, the work never ends and you will feel incompetent. Clinicians are expected to pick up everyone on the teams slack and are never seen as humans who deserve empathy or a goddamn break. During my time here I saw 5 people leave my team because of the manager. I was the 6th person to leave in less than a years time frame.
