They need to focus on clients and not profits.

Pros

Helping people with mental illness on their road to recovery.

Cons

Money hungry. Upper management are friends and will protect one another at all costs. Sexual harassment is brushed under the rug. Incompetent HR staff.

Pros

My coworkers here are one of the most hardworking people I have come to meet in this field. The case managers, social workers, therapists, doctors, and admin team are beyond amazing. David Mineta is a nice man. Protected by the Union SEIU. This is a big deal because this prevents management from overworking their team.

Cons

Inexperience managers and other management personnel claiming the seat of management. They seemed to be worried being liked by their superior rather than doing what is right for their staff and trusting their staff ability to decipher “best clinical practice”. They don’t trust their employees to determine for clients and themselves the meaning of best clinical practice. Double standards all across the board. Executive team works from home while instructing the rest of the company to continually go into the office exposing themselves to the virus.

We agree that staff across the board at Momentum are dedicated and hard working. Momentum is not only the largest non-profit behavioral health services provider in Santa Clara Valley, but also has arguably one of the most tenured management teams. Executive Team members' average tenure at Momentum is over 16 years. Momentum is accredited by CARF (the premier accreditation body for behavioral health services), which has praised Momentum for best clinical practices. Part of our success is insuring a standard of care across the organization under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer. During the current health crisis, contract tracing to date reveals zero client to staff and zero staff to staff virus transmissions in our outpatient system. The Executive Team is, in fact, in the office as much as line staff, and Outpatient Services have been on a 3-day per week in-office schedule to reduce staff exposure. Also not clear about the basis for the statement "[m]ore diversity in your Executive team." Our President & CEO is Asian American, our Chief Medical Officer is an Indian American woman, our Chief of Outpatient Services is a Black woman, our Chief of Residential Services is Hispanic. Momentum also has an open door policy, so if you have specific concerns about your manager, you are welcome to share them with that manager's supervisor, or anyone else, up to and including the CEO.

Pros

I am passionate about the work and loved the clients/population I worked with.

Cons

The upper management at Momentum were incompetent and nasty when I was working there. Most of them had worked for the organization (or it's predecessors) for 20 to 30 years and their dysfunction was ingrained and accepted. They would pretty much be unemployable anywhere else.
