Pros

Good Benefits, nice pay, great co-workers. Great for accumulating hours, supervision included, over time opportunity. Freedom in therapeutic approach with appointed clients. Nice location- Stanford area of Palo alto

Cons

Understaffed, no job training but still expected to perform, managers reluctant to provide training other than worksheets. supervisors lie about being supportive, and difficult to set aside time to meet with to address needs. Manager became hostile at the end. Worked right up until my 6 month probation then fired. Clinical Director's ego/anger difficulties affect working environment. No office space

Pros

Clinical supervision is included in position (both group and individual), supportive team, great training opportunities, pay is above average for mental health CBOs, annual increases, realistic work expectations.

Cons

Clinicians are placed in leadership role while still being union employees (creates tension on teams as clinicians are expected to set limits with staff but have no follow trough). Dependent/spouse health insurance coverage is not affordable, union representation (stewards) are extremely negative and not willing to work with anyone outside of their own interests.

Pros

Many Momentum staff are hardworking, compassionate, and dedicated to clients and the mission. Pay for managers is good compared to other nonprofits, however, pay for entry level positions is poor.

Cons

Open door policy is not effective in addressing problematic leadership. HR does not address leaders with a problematic history or hold them accountable for toxic behavior. Instead, staff with a grievance against their supervisors are viewed as the problem. Current Development leadership is problematic and has been the cause of recent staff turnover. Anyone looking for a role in Marketing under the current Development leadership should beware. There is a disconnect between staff and leadership. All-Staff and Managers meetings are inconsistent and could be used as an opportunity for leadership and/or managers to connect with staff in a meaningful way and cultivate a culture of transparency. Infrastructure at Momentum could use much more capacity. Facilities and IT teams are small and have to support a staff of 500 spread out over many locations. Overall, processes are slow at Momentum and there is a lack of clarity around which roles own specific tasks.
