An ok institution to work for. If you are a hard worker, usually there is room to get extra hours.

Cons

I will say this as a perdiem worker who was unfortunately let go due to greed on both end, hospital and unions. Avoid Perdiem positions. Barely genuine coworkers and management. Its a self-preservation type of environment and there is always some sort of drama going on. Getting hired there is very hard for an outsider, they tend to look out for their "friends" both hiring mangers and HR dept. 1199 Union Reps there are unhelpful and lack knowledge.

Pros

Majority of staff dedicated to the mission. Vacation time is ample. Retirement contribution is stellar. Opportunities for advancement exist, though in some departments it is harder.

Cons

Technologically, the administrative resources are in the dark ages. Very low culture of professionalism across the board (no one asks what can we do better; very low accountability at many levels). Some leadership is clueless about the mission and instead gets lost in internal politics. People that know how to play politics advance despite their lack of ability. Union environment s strong, but to the detriment of both sides good workers can't be rewarded, bad workers are over protected.
