Pros

Has the potential to become a Premier Medical Center. The physician's for the most part are great, they come w/a wealth of knowledge, most willing to share this knowledge w/nursing staff & therefore should have a venue to assist in elevating the staff's knowledge base by holding "mandatory" seminar's etc.

Cons

Poor management at clinical level. Poor clinical skills assessment of registered nursing staff & retaliation runs rampant throughout. Very Unprofessional. For it to be a "teaching" medical center there is absolutely "NO" teaching being done at the bedside (i.e. Mock Codes, pump assessments) and as a result the clinical practice is "POOR". Their is a "majority" foreign nursing staff from African / Caribbean regions w/different values, ethics on heath care, customer service & loyalty & you often see groups of peoples from the same region kind of sticking together if you point out an area of improvement, something that one of their countrymen need to learn, skills that need to be performed better; you will in fact have a "target" on your chest for simply being a "prudent" nurse. The customer service is very poor & results also in poor work ethic. The foreign nursing staff leaves a perception that they want something for nothing as follows: Night shift allowed to "sleep" for an hour & a half during breaks is unsafe / ludicrous because when they are gone said nurse has double the patient load, just for them to return very sluggish & often times you will witness individuals taking longer breaks & the people that are supposed to be watching your patients "never" get up to check on them.

Pros

The mission, culture and ability to make a positive impact in the community and for our contractual relationships. There numerous ways to improve on skills and education that are supported by the company an the executive management are supportive and helpful.

Cons

Some areas can be slow to implement change, but many areas are supportive and are open-minded to new ways of doing things.
