Pros

I learned a lot about Mount Sinai's corporate priorities and decided to avoid them in future applications.

Cons

I recently had a short tenure at Mount Sinai Hospital that was marked by significant challenges and an unsettling work environment. While I recognized that transitions can be difficult, my experience was overshadowed by a lack of support and constructive feedback from my team. From the beginning, I encountered dismissive attitudes regarding my requests for time off for medical appointments, which contributed to a feeling of being undervalued. Despite my efforts to align with team dynamics, I was discouraged from sharing positivity in team communications, which felt stifling. There was a distinct emphasis on negativity, with comments suggesting that the team was focused solely on financial gain rather than on a supportive work culture. Communication issues were prevalent, with feedback often delivered in a manner that felt personal rather than constructive. On multiple occasions, I was criticized for minor mistakes that were more indicative of my adjustment to a new role rather than a lack of effort or competence. This culminated in an abrupt termination after just six weeks, with no clear performance-based justification provided. The worst part was that even the labor relations department at the HR of the hospital did not take my complaints seriously and ended up siding with the immature management. Overall, my experience was disappointing, as I hoped to contribute positively and grow within the organization.

Pros

The organization is diverse and there is a "said" emphasis on Diversity initiatives. Not every Department within Sinai is the same. Leadership in some departments is extremely toxic while in others, it may be better.

Cons

While the workplace is diverse, the executive leadership is mostly white men. There is a top-down hierarchy and no accountability for senior leadership within Departments. So, even if they foster a toxic and stressful work environment, you can't give them feedback or provide annual performance review like other organizations where they do a 360 degree review. The benefits are also okay. If you are a Sinai employee and work for them, they don't provide much choice in insurance and you'll be forced to use their own doctors, hence straining their healthcare system even more.

Pros

The only pro is that the Epic IT team is allowed to work 100% remote.

Cons

Run as fast as you can away from this organization and Epic positions here. This organization pays way below market rate and it is a toxic, bureaucratic organization with very poor leadership and management. Managers who are very checked out, delegate everything to overworked and understaffed team. Senior leadership DOES NOT CARE and only promotes those in senior titles-everyone else who gets promotions are promoted because of favoritism. AGAIN there are WAY better places to work-go there instead.
