Pros

It's a fairly famous hospital that has a good reputation for excellence in medical care. The patient population they treat is great. Very nice people who deserve and appreciate great care. There is a good mix of poor and indigent patients accompanied with those that are VPs and CEOs of major companies.

Cons

The place is huge! There is so much waste and redundancy that it is unbelievable. A lot of the management was chosen due to their popularity rather than their ability to lead. There is a lot of back room negotiations and sometimes things make absolutely no sense. When a management position becomes available it seems like it is given to the person that will put up the least resistance and simply say 'yes' to what the administrators want to do. There is no outlet for a regular employee to give someone an idea and get the proper recognition.

Pros

Mount Sinai School of Medicine may be good for technicians, administration staff and housekeepers. Although these jobs are paid not high, they are not challenging, so these people are relaxed and have a good life. It is also good for nurses who are paid very well. It is the best the place for doctors with MD degree, who are given the best respect, opportunities, promotion, high pay, and other benefits.

Cons

Depending on what types of jobs. As a scientist with a PhD degree, it is very difficult to thrive because they are NOT given chances and supports to succeed. They are just tools for MD to succeed.

Pros

it has a lot of variety--many learning opportunities & chance to be w/ a diverse group-both employees & patient population. There is a lot of support given to new graduates & new employees.

Cons

biased support when it comes to management & employees, lack of professionalism, lack of follow-up of issues.high turnover rate of rns.too much emphasis on recruitment & none on retention.too much $$$ is given to making new wings or floors that aren't being utilized all that much. While it may look nice,$$$ should be allocated toward those who have worked hard to make Beth Israel Medical Center the great hospital that it is.The problem is also, there are quite a few MDs who do not know how to communicate w/rns properly---that is,to talk to them w/respect & to communicate in a professional manner.
