Pros

Very democratic way in which departmental changes are handled. Excellent benefits and vacation time. Upward mobility within the institution, (I've been here a year and have already been promoted and received a 10% raise).

Cons

Bureaucracy causes high degree of slow-downs.

Pros

well, it's a prestigious place to work, always fun to say that you work there, and head over there every day. THe Doctors are excellent, really nice people to work for, and dealing with patients who are nice but not overly stressed or demanding (most surgeries are elective, this is the clinic, not the OR) is very nice. Unfortunately though, you aren't working for the M.D. but the management team which flat out sucks, and treats their workers like garbage.

Cons

Management is completely backwards, cowardly and specification-driven. They'd rather hire drones to check every box than an outstanding team member who lacks a checkbox...it filters down into a factory-like, that's not my job attitude with a whole lot of CYA going on...

Pros

Amazing community of professionals offers great opportunitiy for lifelong learning from staff, faculty, and patients.

Cons

Workload is not light. Balancing family and work is very department-dependent. In many areas, you end up working closely with residents, which overall is a major plus -- on the whole, they are smart, motivated, hard-working folk. However, you depend on them for many essential duties, and they often act as your public face with the patients. So, when you come across one of the poor work ethic, lazy, or just plain unintelligent ones, your month can become really tough.
