Pros

well, it's a prestigious place to work, always fun to say that you work there, and head over there every day. THe Doctors are excellent, really nice people to work for, and dealing with patients who are nice but not overly stressed or demanding (most surgeries are elective, this is the clinic, not the OR) is very nice. Unfortunately though, you aren't working for the M.D. but the management team which flat out sucks, and treats their workers like garbage.

Cons

Management is completely backwards, cowardly and specification-driven. They'd rather hire drones to check every box than an outstanding team member who lacks a checkbox...it filters down into a factory-like, that's not my job attitude with a whole lot of CYA going on...

Pros

1) One of the best hospitals in the world. 2) Recruits top notch physicians to care for simple to complex disease and treatment. A hospital that can care for any disease and it's treatment. 3) Easily reached via subway, car. 4) Staff really tries to take care of the patient. They work on professionalism, friendliness and concern for the patient. 5) Security is good. 6) They are working on cleanliness. 7) One of the best hospital cafeterias around; a bit pricey but the food doesn't look like baked Alpo.

Cons

1) Management ( or micro-management ) thrives on terrorizing the employees; many are leaving. People who were there for years are leaving due to the abuse and demeaning atmosphere. Their opinions and concerns are not deemed worthy; most of all their experience means nothing. The senior management and middle management have serious issues with confrontation; suggestions, issues are not heard. Work should not be a trial in dealing with psychosis. 2) Unreasonable work loads. Management thinks nothing of adding additional duties making it impossible to finish your work load. How can you learn, be promoted or hope to continue employment when you are constantly loaded with duties and harassed on top of it? You are set up to fail rather than succeed. That's what the management wants; for you to fail and get fired for not completing your required work load. If you are smart; you will leave before that happens. 3) Departmental meetings were long ago discontinued; management probably got tired of hearing the issues at hand. They can't deal with issues; so why have a departmental meeting ?? 4) The consultants are taking over in some areas; many of whom don't know what they are doing.

Pros

Location, location and location - views of the park (but not from any office or lab that you'll be working in)

Cons

Chaotic, disorganized - institution and its professional staff fall all over themselves providing care for those deemed worthy - major donors, the wealthy (potential major donors), "prominent" and "noteworthy" people, heiresses, royalty, celebrity-ish types, etc. Otherwise, crap care, (mostly) terrible support staff - surly, passive-aggressive, obstructionist. I could go on and on; I should. But why bother?
