Pros

Lots of good people work here.

Cons

The recent cuts by management make this a bad place to work. Benefits and hours are being sliced from people who have dedicated themselves to patient care for years Core values are not being extended to their own employees.

MultiCare Health System Response
11y
MultiCare has worked hard to ensure that our cost reduction efforts do not affect patient care. Nearly all positions eliminated have been in non-patient care roles, and the actual numbers were much lower than previously reported in the media. Ultimately, our goal is to provide patient care that is of high quality and affordable cost. By working with our employees to manage healthcare costs, we are still able to offer health insurance plans for employees that are as low as $0 per month in employee cost with heavily subsidized coverage for spouses, domestic partners and children.

Beware....

Pros

Loved my co-workers, and my duties. The pay was fair.

Cons

Extraordinarily stressful work environment, especially for RNs and those who work directly with patients (RNs beware: Unrealistic patient: RN ratio). Punitive and fear based management. I had the highest productivity in my department (130%), but was pressured to do more, and was indirectly pressured to inflate my productivity. When I reported that co-workers were inflating their patient contact time, (i.e. lying), and, therefore, the bill the patient got), I was given a cold shoulder and my supervisor refused to talk with me about it. Also, I reported a serious, continuous HIPPA violation: An investigation was done and problems found, but the reviewer had someone higher up make her tell me to "drop it". After 12 years I left due to unethical practices, and unbearable management (80% of them). RNs cry here regularly, due to overwhelming stress. Your boss will throw you under the bus immediately, rather than investigate the concerns or perceptions of others. This job is appropriate for beginning level employees who need experience and who can tolerate being treated with disrespect. PATIENTS: Keep someone with you to help you watch for medication errors, to clean you, to help you get to the toilet, and to help you. Your poor RNs are far too busy, and cannot meet all of your needs.

Pros

-Decent pay (not worth it with a full caseload) -Good supervisor (to an extent) -Made a good friend (coworker) -Supervision hours were consistent with a supervisor but not a manager (need hours for licensure)

Cons

-Inconsistent supervision hours with manager -difficulties with discourse hour sign-offs (still missing a signature needed to apply for licensure) - My coworker (friend) passed away. I feel Multicare, and the clinic managers and supervisors were given a heads-up about the individual needs. Still, I felt they lacked compassion and urgency in protecting and providing resources to the employees. -Experienced constant microaggression, racism, and discrimination The clinic manager told a lie and, when confronted, admitted it, but it is now listed in my evaluation as true. I felt like I was not believed and really ruined my experience working in the clinic, and I am not the only one who left -Covid protocol was all over the place when i was sick -Was told I was too supportive of Black clients (my job is to advocate for those in need in primary care settings) - -- I did not want to leave the Multicare system, but my clinic team was not the best, and I liked my role and supervisor. I would have loved to have been at a different clinic, but I could not continue with the abuse I experienced in the primary clinic in the Puget Sound region
