Pros
You will like a lot of your teammates, especially if you’re really young, in your early 20’s, there’s a good group there. Every month, you’ll celebrate birthdays as a group. Once a month or so they treat you to lunch. They have a nice Christmas party each year and a summer party at the Santa Cruz boardwalk. So, cute perks there, thanks to Sharron and Wylea.
Cons
There’s nobody managing your manager. Managers don’t get reviewed by direct reports, so there’s no accountability. They haven’t been trained on how to lead, so it’s a really poor culture in that regard. A lot of people are extremely unhappy with their bosses, and that’s why there has been SO much turnover in the past couple of years. There’s no real direction given to you, and you have no idea how to move up. It’s a real downer. Plus you are in so many meetings that are a complete waste of time, just giving updates to one person and then sitting there for the next hour while others give their updates. And then you’re asked to make a ton of slides every week. It’s a lot of nonsense. There’s always this direction of “quick, we need to figure out what to do next quarter, which starts next week”, when other companies are making plans a year ahead, and sticking to them. It feels comical when you realize how shoddy everything is. There’s a huge culture of a lack of appreciation because everyone is scrambling all the time. If people were actually appreciated and treated with respect, you’d have a lot less turnover.
