      Netgear hit the iceberg, ship not moving, flairs deployed.

      Netgear is a sinking ship. Their financial earnings reports use more red ink than a stop sign factory. I worked in product for the consumer line, and trust me; we keep making bad product decisions out of ego and appeasement, not market demand. Instead of innovating on features people care about, we made your home wifi 100x faster than your ISP. What's the end benefit to the customer? Nothing. The truth is your wifi router/mesh from 10 years ago will do the same thing as the new Orbi $1,500 system we sell today. Netgear is stuck in the past and lacks motivation and innovation. They use layoffs/RIFs to cover up for bad management decisions. The people you work with here aren't inspiring or leaders - All they want to do is collect a paycheck at an employer close to their home. Lifeboats are being loaded, and the band is playing. Do your research if you’re looking to work here...

      Thanks for your feedback. While I always appreciate hearing from current employees about what is working and what is not, I have concerns that your opinion about the current state of the consumer business is outdated. As you know, I started 8 months ago as the new CEO and we have been on a journey to transform NETGEAR overall, including our consumer business, and we are off to a great start. Here are a few specific thoughts on your feedback I agree that we had previously been too focused on the "premium" segment of the consumer market. As everyone at the company knows, that strategy changed shortly after I joined, and we are now focused on delivering a simplified product line-up that delivers differentiated value to consumers across many different segments of the market (dorm rooms, first apartment, initial home, large properties, MDUs, etc.). We launched our new company values two days ago and, as I shared at our recent all-hands, one of those values is Connect and Delight. This value is all about deeply understanding the needs of our consumers and delivering excellence in every aspect of the product experience. As it relates to Cisco, we just recruited two long-time Cisco veterans to lead our B2B business. They observed what I saw in NETGEAR: a company, team, brand, business, etc. with a huge amount of untapped potential.       Do Not Work Here! Much better opportunities that pay a living wage. RUN! Far far away.... NETGEAR is in serious troublwe

      Pros

      Monday was bagel, donuts and pastries. Also, complimentary sodas, water, teas, Quaker oatmeal. Most of the time I had little to zero supervision so was able to get in, do my work and leave on time at the end of the day.

      Cons

      Communication with management and higher ups is virtually non-existent. Once went 6 weeks without seeing or speaking to my manager because they never came into the office or had the professionalism to send an email or Skype message to "check in". Really? The CEO attitude at the most recent hands on is "You're either with us or against us." Then he tried to use some football team analogy (related to the 49ers return to success?) and that NETGEAR needs to turn things around in 2020. Getting customers to pay for services and customer service is not a successful business model. I tried to explain this in meetings and to my manager how much customers hated NETGEAR and were going to competitor's such as Ubiquiti, Google and Asus. Also, people above you do not want to collaborate or even talk to you. View subordinates as peons who they would gladly wipe off the bottom of their shoe. DO NOT WORK HERE! People are cliquish and if you aren't buddies with management you will not get a raise or be offered a permanent position.... EVER! Also, for a Silicon Valley company they underpay and management claims they have no budget to pay more. The company stock has plummeted from $35 in 2019 to around $17. Not good! Also, way too many meetings that are a waste of time.

      Good pay, benefits, etc. Work mature employees usually left alone. Frequent surveys to determine what actions are needed to make its employee's work environment better and attempts to. Made a noticeable effort to hire with more diversity. Made big changes for the Covid Pandemic to ensure it's employee's safety like closing office, WFH, providing supplies and equipment, frequent online activities and meetings to avoid disconnect.

      Cons

      Fast pace high pressure environment. Schedules constantly shortened without notice. High expectations for results but that is the trade off with then top notch support. Like most companies, a few people there reaping the benefits and contributing very little.
