Pros

Bonus is good when company is doing well.

Cons

CEO is Hypocritical. Do things exactly opposite as he told employees not to. HR and legal are his left/right hand to not put him in trouble.

Pros

-New CEO with many executives being replaced allowing for new ideas - Lots of changes and restructuring occurring allowing for more accountability and transparency between teams - New Values - Direction of the company is becoming clear - Transition from performance to stability and reliability for our customers - Monthly AMA meetings with executives allowing for transparency - Catered Lunches 3x a week via Hungry - New Performance Evaluations for 2025 just started twice a year - Lots of great people to talk outside your department

Cons

- Compensation and IC Levels are not transparent - Lot of inefficiencies in streamlining processes for SQA/QA and Software Development - No career guidance on how to move up the ladder or grow your career - This may be team specific but promotions based on time you been there not performance this may be changing soon though - Highly Resource constraint on software embedded developers - Too much SQA/QA testing but not enough focus on software development in testing which would be more beneficial for the company than hiring testers who cant code - In Engineering mainly Chinese speakers who prefer talking Chinese over English making you feel excluded especially in big groups of 15-20 teammates

A relic from the days of the early internet...

Pros

The benefits are very good

Cons

Working at NETGEAR is like stepping into the early internet boom, in a bad way. Behind the times is an understatement. HQ is like the movie Office Space. There are no meaningful perks, all systems are archaic, and incompetence runs rampant. Very few women are in power. Anyone under age 50 is treated like a clueless child with nothing to offer. A lot of the products don't even work well. It's incredibly hierarchical, which makes it nearly impossible to get things done. Opportunities for creativity/new ideas are nonexistent. The CEO openly says it is not a democracy - what he thinks is law.

Pros

Billion+ company that runs like a startup. Initiative, drive and creativity are prioritized above bureaucracy. Visionary Co-founder and CEO has successfully navigated industry for decades, mitigated supply chain disasters before competitors felt them, etc. Growth of services and plans for new decade is inspiring.

Cons

High ratio of contractors vs. full-time accumulated tech-debt that isn't as fun to clean-up as working on new services launching.

Could be a good company if...

Pros

-Handful of really great people -Stock options -Can work from home -Unlimited FTA

Cons

-Zero work-life balance -Directors and above can't read data sheets or want to hear real data. -Everything is communicated in a PowerPoint presentation...EVERYTHING. It's like working for toddlers. -Company social media platform, is just a megaphone for the CEO to post tone deafly about his Omega watch while people were being laid off. -Expectations to be available 24/7, respond to emails while on FTA -You either hide your real opinion or say yes to dumb initiatives. This leads to beige ideas and "innovation by committee". -The insane push to be "premium" on everything. The idea customer is the 1%. You make utility items for the internet, not designing Omega watches.

Pros

Work/Life Balance and a CEO that is here for the employees. A true visionary that works toward promoting balance in all aspects of the company. He understands the challenges of staying competitive and the hard work that takes place to make this happen. This company truly promotes the open door policy and it begins with the CEO. I am truly endeared with our CEO and our other executives who are genuinely warm and kind people <3

Cons

There are deadlines and long days at times but this goes with the territory (business) in which if we succeed we all benefit. That is how NETGEAR rolls!
