You're actually improving government communications and interactions for citizens in your state! Benefits - Unmatched group healthcare plan! Diversity - Employees have a broad range of backgrounds and professional goals. It's truly a diverse work environment! Progressive - Folks generally love to adopt or promote new technology and ideas.

Cons

We lack a strong, unified project management process and tool Feel a little removed from the energy of the corporate office (this could be a pro, too)

Strong on Culture and Work-Life Balance Weak on Career Development

Pros

Amazing work-life balance with a fun atmosphere. Can gain some great experience managing small and large IT projects.

Cons

Employees are not rewarded for their performance, everyone gets pretty much the same raise year over year. The only way to quickly move up (depending on the portal you are in) is to move around the country

Pros

Working with NIC at the Virginia Portal has been a great experience. Seeing so many tenured people on staff is just an example of the success of a company and their environment as a whole. The benefits package you receive cannot be beat. My decision to leave was not due to disappointing factor working here, it was simply a personal decision to move to another state.
