Pros

Work culture (BRGs, CARES) is supported by SLT, teams seem to care about each other as people, immediate leadership respects team’s abilities and trusts us to do good work

Cons

Lots of change in a short amount of time, often short-sighted without consideration of how decisions affect the average employee. Large wage gap between SLT and average workers relative to other not-for-profits. Lots of uncertainty in direction of the company as a whole.

Pros

Most of the work is mundane, making a routine easy. Access to a large team when fully-staffed. Cafeteria is nice enough, I loved the patio space for eating when time permitted. If you're the right fit there is opportunity for cross-training during slow periods. Starting pay is good enough. This does not trend well over time, however. I saw enormous amounts of flexibility for a wide range of staffers' needs.

Cons

Tasks considered unpleasant or difficult are hot-potato'd like crazy by teammates in busier lab groups. Often not fully-staffed due to blatant mismanagement. Some employees are absurdly overloaded while others flirt with their neighboring offices or clack tongs on a daily basis for their paycheck. Your experience will be utterly up to chance, often in vertically equivalent positions. Aforementioned flexibility always comes at significant cost to employees who don't have need of such accommodation. Senior management are scoundrels who steal labor.
