Pros

Good administrative management systems in place, good training, very good regional conferences

Cons

Many field support reps do not come from veterinary background; field support reps often slow to get things done which is understandable due to number of practices assigned; however, there were many issues resulting from this that negatively affected business performance and most of all morale; do not put it past NVA to throw former owners under the bus; typical corporate politics..... NVA corporate resources cover their own rear-end first, NVA's second - not unlike many big companies....multiple incidents of NVA corp. employees complaining about others, mainly managers and the lack of experience or age....typical stuff lol

Great people to work with! They are always looking toward the future and how to improve and expand. Management was supportive. Their on-boarding process was extremely helpful and thorough.

Cons

Was only there a short time (other job opportunity).

Pros

As someone who has worked for almost every corporate veterinary group possible, I can say with confidence that the NVA model suits my needs best. The entire staff is given real autonomy from management. As a medical director I have absolute discretion over my medical protocols, inventory items and management style. Yes, I work for a corporation and am expected to maintain a profitable hospital but I don't see how that would be different if I were a private owner. NVA allows me the ability to practice cutting edge medicine without having to navigate the soul-crushing complexities of HR/accounting/payroll. I am finally able to purchase the best drugs and equipment that allow me to practice the most rewarding type of medicine. Based on annual performance hospitals also qualify for additional capital expense purchases that do not come out of the clinic's finances.

Cons

My medical benefits are not extended to my immediate family (this is keeping me from getting married!) I do not have a 401-K matching plan. My medical benefits are meager and overpriced.
