Pros

Only work per diem and will be quitting after Christmas.

Cons

You work with inexperienced nurses who have no business and no clue about correctional nursing. They expect the custody staff to change their daily routines and safety protocols to work around the inexperienced nurses who take forever to complete a simple task. You are expected to work with an AA and HSA that are clueless and expect everyone to do their jobs too. Corporate calls frequently during the day with questions they have after monitoring our conversations and video that is recorded on their streaming Webcam. I have even been asked to do things out of my scope of practice on several occasions.

Pros

Some absolutely wonderful coworkers. Very challenging work. Great place to get a job for a couple of weeks of paid orientation while looking for another job.

Cons

This job will test every bit of nursing empathy you have. Management is more interested in creating new policies, changing policies, and expanding their market that they forget about the foot soldiers doing the work. Their pride and joy, Techcare software is a joke. Causes way more problems than it is ever going to solve. No concern for the inmate/patients that they take care of. Pulling psych patients off all their meds until seen by a provider (a 2-4 week wait). New PRN nurses coming through continously, never to be seen again.

Pros

I have to work and a lot of my co workers do too and there are many friendly ones that have to work.

Cons

Very miserable environment. Toxic and demeaning is what it feels like but they don't care at all. Everyone is replaceable. They don't even try to pretend to care. I hate it.
