Pros

The best thing about national general is getting your foot in the door to earn experience as a claims adjuster. The workload is heavy and you are often gaslighted on why you didn’t complete tons of claims when in reality they do not create an efficient system for you to succeed to the capacity that they want you to not to say that it is unattainable. In order to achieve high closing numbers you have to work more than 8 hours a day and on saturdays at least until you are very skilled. The work is centered on quantity rather than quality, as long as you close lots of files you are praised if not then prepare to be belittled and demeaned by managers. There are still great people that work for this company and help the organization to be tolerable. All in all I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have worked here it can be a good stepping stone and teach you many things.

Cons

-poor managers -unrealistic expectations -no work life balance -inefficient systems -false promises -micromanagement

Pros

$15/hour starting wage (I hear it’s since gone up) with mandatory overtime, and very laid back hiring practices. If you don't have much experience you could do worse.

Cons

The job is intense/stressful. If you like/are good at sales, you can for sure get a higher base wage at another local call center. Though the base pay is ok for the area, that’s a shame and speaks more to the need for a raised minimum wage than the actual living you can make at this job. (Again, as a novice, seasoned reps do pretty well). Micromanaging in a complex industry means that no matter how good you are, you will make a mistake and get talked to. These mistakes are sometimes on you, but it’s frustrating to see management come down on you like you’re a 5th grader in then principals office only to hear later that your mistake was escalated and dismissed by big insurance regulation ppl. Also, the health insurance isn’t real health insurance.

Pros

You can work from home.

Cons

Requires a set amount of unreasonable weekly closings that doesn't take into effect if you receive large call volumes or time consuming large losses. You're still required to obtain the required weekly production, exceed audit reviews and manage phones an activities, as if you're working at a production facility, not a claims office. This has resulted in people sneaking and working off the clock, which has led to write ups and terminations. Either you're written up for not meeting production requirements, not meeting audit standards, or working off the clock..There are no winners..Audit team is too strict and pretty much reworks the claim, instead of allowing the adjuster to conclude the claim based on their professional opinion. Horrible training. You learn your mistakes from the audit team. Closing requirements too stringent. They don't wanna offer overtime. They would rather you sneak and work off the clock to meet your goals, then write you up or fire you once you're discovered trying to meet their unreasonable goals...
