Pros

Not many pros to this company other than initial salary if you know how to negotiate. Due to poor reputation human resources will throw money at you to get you in the door but bonuses are rarely paid even though promised. They may say you have a flexible schedule but their are plenty of people who keep tabs of face time regardless of how efficient you work.

Cons

Management and human resournces are dishonest with respect to bonuses, terminations, hirings and ability to advance within the organization. An employee is only a percentage point on budget spreadsheet and will be terminated if reducing the bottom line makes the vice president look good. Typically this results in increased workload for employees but management will say nothing because they are scared for their jobs. Management is directed to have poker face when dealing with employee concerns and evaluations. All of management looks over their respective shoulders on a daily basis and may say they have employees backs but when push comes to shove they only look to keep their head off the chopping block. The chopping block is very frequent within this company and the reasons surrounding terminations are mere lip service to the masses. If you sat down and had an "honest" conversation with managers they will tell you what a screwed up place the organization is and how much they dislike their jobs and people within the company. You will be promised the world by the recruiters and managers at this place but once you are in the door you will see the dysfunction, frustration and tears that run rampant. If you are considering working at this company, I suggest you ask to sit with people during the normal course of business and see how stressed and displeased they are with the day to day work. Make sure that the person you are interviewing with is actually going to be your manager and ask how many people received a bonus and if not, what was the reason. You will see that this company sells you as much as you need to sell yourself and I would argue they sell you the job if you have any type of credentials. The processes and procedures change on a daily basis and employees are held accountable to the moving target. This is not to say one should not be flexible to the everchanging work landscape that occurs in 2014 but accountability and evaluations should take that into consideration, which they do not. All in all the company is bad and the poor reputation it has is well deserved. It is amazing who gets promoted at this company and how much turnover there is.

Pros

We have a great leadership team who encourages employees to be involved in making this company the best place to work. My manager listens to his team and asks for our ideas. My team is excited about the new building we are moving into - everything is going to be New & Modern. I LOVE working for a company that invest in their employees. I've never worked for a company that greets you in the morning with treats, has pizza parties or had ice cream truck come out to the office. We work hard but feel appreciated for doing it. Keep up the good work!!

Cons

The current office - it's outdated. (Can't wait to move this summer).

Pros

Over the past few years the claims department in Winston-Salem has hired a lot of great new employees and the culture of the company has changed significantly. Management has made a lot of changes and I expect there to be more in the future. Everyone make an effort to listen and make decisions that are best for the company and employees. The company just went public. We're getting ready to move from an old office to a new one that from everything I've seen looks great (and parking will be free). Water and coffee are free. The most important thing off all is that the company is doing well and growing. I've seen at least 10 people promoted over the last year.

Cons

The job is very demanding but the hiring of a lot of new people will hopefully help. Sometimes everyone is so busy that it's hard to keep up with all the changes and multiple communications that are sent. Our computer system has had some issues recently and it's my understanding a lot of money is being invested to upgrade it.
