      Pros

      Money, benefits, and opportunities are good. I have had an excellent career. Training, travel, and work-life is excellent. The government is one of the few places you can still get a retirement pension.

      Cons

      Every year NGA becomes a little more bureaucratic.

      Pros

      Relevant mission, tons of ways to learn new skills, especially GIS. Possibly more transferable skills than other intel work. Time off is great. Mostly decent managers (by gov't standards).

      Cons

      Shift work requirement, advancement opportunities eventually require you to leave your area of expertise most of the time. Pay in DC is only OK. Chip on shoulder across the agency about being less well-known than CIA or NSA.

      Pros

      Cutting edge technology, especially data manipulation/information extraction. Nice building, nice campus.

      Cons

      Lots of chasing the latest buzzwords rather than a well focused, coherent strategy. Horrible parking situation due to Congressional mandate for new Fed buildings to only have 60% of expected population-parking spaces (to force carpooling, public transportation, etc.
