Pros

Decent pay with good benefits once you have enough service time.

Cons

Federal service work in department of defense is not for everyone. Also deal with furloughs when budgets aren’t passed.

Pros

Relentless focus on mission, trying very hard to not RIF (lay off) employees during downsizing/restructure

Cons

It is a difficult time for any federal agency. NGA leadership is solid, but in this era any day can bring new lunacy from above. Due to large force reduction, anticipate limited opportunity gain entry, and limited upward mobility within, for the next 18-36 months minimum.
