      Pros

      Great pay for CO-OPs and new hires with opportunity to earn fantastic overtime wages. Relaxed environment as long as there is not a weather emergency. Engineers, even CO-OPs, are considered management and are in turn treated with a certain amount of respect from the beginning of employment. The company is an industry leader and all the equipment is state of the art. The 'Grid is definitely a company that is well funded and generous to their employees.

      Cons

      Weather emergencies offer great overtime wages, but being a utility company, much of the time you work until the problem is solved. 20 hour days are possible in major weather events such as snow storms. HR can be a pain to deal with and direct deposit will take months to kick in.

      Pros

      In the downturn of the financial markets, utility and medical industry are probably somewhat safest place to work

      Cons

      Lots of downsides. first of all, the senior people within the company who are employed since the Brooklyn union and Lilco days, think they own the company and behave the way they want too. Secondly, the company speaks broadly about diversity and stuff but treats minority badly. Promotions are based on who knows who and not on merits. Have seen some managers and supervisors know nothing even about computers, but still holds senior positions. Junior staff does all the work while the seniors plays golf the whole day. Senior also get away watching pornos on computers coz they have godfathers within the company. Some departments functions like Mom & Pop stores or should i say like an Federal disability office.
