Pros

Job security is excellent. Hours are good and flexible. Benefits are good. There are a lot of technical people available for collaboration.

Cons

I really didn't enjoy working at NSA. I never felt like I was doing important work and I felt like communication with management was very poor. Work at NSA is very steady and secure, but it's a dull. Nobody I worked with there seemed excited about what they were doing. You can also feel very isolated since there's very little about your work that you can discuss outside of NSA.

Pros

- Internship program -Rotations to different organizations - Milestone promotions (they don't do these anymore) - Interesting mission - Lots of training opportunities

Cons

- Lack of telework - Lack of promotions (made worse with the lack of milestone promotions) - Conservative leadership and peers (they do not want to change) - Leadership is old and outdated, lack of new blood and energy - Lack of workforce innovation - Micromanaging leadership - Work life balance is terrible - Handling of COVID19 was lacking - Lack of transparency

Pros

Excellent place to work and grow professionally if you are one of the "special" ones (applied to most of the technical fields).

Cons

Politics, lots of back stabbing, old boys club in desirable offices, if you are not ex-military, hard to get promoted, if you are not in a career development program - your career is dead, certain groups (College alumni, ex-military, by age, etc) take care of their friends - College degrees and certifications does nothing special for your career, pass a certain age - your career is dead, promotions and assignments are given out by who likes you or what you can do to help them get promoted.
