Pros
A great place to build a resume and gain experience in higher education. Good tuition, medical, dental, retirement benefits, etc. The heart of this institution, its seasoned and student-focused staff, is what keeps this University standing. Education is an excellent product - there are not many jobs where you're able to help people improve their opportunities, income, quality of life for themselves and their families. The opportunity to positively impact lives is amazing!
Cons
Within the last 3 years, the University has experienced various breakdowns, and this has been at the expense of its students and staff. Communication is at an all-time low. I’ve been with National for nearly a decade. Why the loyalty and why the investment? I care about this institution; I care for its students. I care about its staff, who bend over backwards to salvage the SICs we still have. But these SICs are slowly being eaten away by broken Registrar processes, arbitrary SHHS decisions, Regents’ inability to fund various degree requirements coupled with the recent, secretive tuition hikes two months sooner than is typical - education is now fiscally out of reach for all undergraduates without grants or private loans. Monetary decisions are made rashly and with little thought of unintended consequence - lack of collaboration with departments prior to high level decision making is to blame.
