Pros

Benefits are good - and I don't think they are too expensive. I believe that the majority of the people I work with really want to do a good job and provide customer service to our insureds. i can work from home, have company car.

Cons

Frequent changes in organizational structure and not for the best. Millions spent on programs on customer service, etc...and then the program is just dropped and never mentioned again. Over-emphasis on saving money . No work/life balance - I am working 60 hours a week. No one is willing to stand up and tell it like it is for fear of losing their jobs. The company is reactive - not proactive. By the time they take action on something - it is way too late. Performance appraisals are not objective - you can get the highest marks in most categories and still not hit exceeds. When you have a company in which 40% of the employees are on a coaching plan - there is something very wrong.

Pros

Great place to start back in the day. Nationwide will train you, but they will bury you in work as well.

Cons

If you want to get laid off, then this is your place to be. If not...stay away! It's a sinking ship!!

Pros

If you are willing to change positions or locations there is plenty of room for promotion/advancement. Educational reimbursement is a great benefit

Cons

It is difficult to advance in the same career path due to limited upwward mobility. managers who want to stay put block those coming up and keep others from advancing- very protective of personal territory
