      Secure job, easy to get really good at, not terribly challenging

      Pros

      Very secure job. Almost impossible to get fired from. Plenty of paid overtime available. Personal leave hours can roll over year to year. Hands on experience, working directly with mechanics and technicians. Industrial environment, with a pretty big "cool" factor.

      Cons

      Not very challenging. Most of the management is unqualified. Very strict working hours. Generally pays less than industry. Career advancement (promotions) lead you very quickly up to management level.

      Mismanagement w/ no supervision by US leaders

      Benefits, stability, service to country

      Cons

      Mismanagement of taxpayers money at the highest level in the name of protecting America. No consciousness of integrity, business practices, and worse.....what is in the best interest of the nation. Complacency, extreme nepotism and favoritism among local residents who lack diversity and cultural training, education, knowledge of current and future workplace business practices, and vision. Employees serve their own self interest of living a superior quality of life that they would have never attained without working for the US government. It creates a horrible work environment for those who do not have roots or plan on establishing roots in the small community.

      Overpaid Underworked Greedy SOB

      Pros

      Awesome pay with lots of overtime if you can stand having a brown nose. Free supplies and tools from store room and warehouse. You just need to have a large enough bag to put things into, also you need to be able to have it go out a revolving gate. You get to ride a bike to and from jobsites, if you are really in good with the boss, you can get a golf cart. If you love to gossip this is the place to be. Lots of down time to catch up on your reading, sleeping, sudoku, and gambling (cards or fantasy football.) Easy to get disability pay.

      Cons

      When there is work, it's usually hazardous. If you're unskilled, inexperienced, and not with the in crowd, then expect to work. Expect to get injured at one or multiple times in your career due to RSI, stupidity of others, lack of planning, and outright negligence.
