Pros
The pay, that’s really it. Wasn’t enough to stay.
Cons
Severe problem with communication across the board, especially from HQ to the stores. There is a lingering belief of “this is the way we have always done it” and the company fails to see that the industry is not what it was 10 years ago. Them operating as if it’s the 90s and blaming the private sector for the low sales is why they are struggling....so bad that the full-timers have been bumped down to 37.5 hours instead of 40. Company believes that signage will generate sales instead of actual merchandising skills. They have Visual teams but do not allow them to do anything but signage, mannequins, and fixtures. The only way to get fired is by theft or violence, which is a problem...there are many managers who should have been terminated years ago, but everything gets swept under the rug. People are leaving at an alarming rate. The pay is not competitive with the private sector for trade positions, so they cannot hire qualified people for maintenance or auto work. Lastly, they fail to act on the customer surveys. They have valid complaints and concerns, but it seems like they are just a laughing matter. I left because my 13 years of experience meant nothing to the NEX. Daily, I was being spoken to as if I did not know what I was talking about. The only reason I stayed so long was the pay, but it was no longer worth the stress.
