Please follow my advice and don’t even go there. What was supposed to be a six month stint in the call center turned into a nine year nightmare of not being allowed to get out of the call center. Your supervisor and quality control will pick, pick, pick, pick at your skills and it will be death by 1000 cuts. You won’t even begin to feel like the professional you were when you initially walked in the door. And if you’re approaching your mid to upper 50s, I doubt they would even hire you. They really only want 20-somethings who are good with computers, electronic devices and other gadgetry. They will find something from 18 months ago that is insignificant to use to fire you. NFCU is a sad example of what is supposed to be a good company in America. Fortune 100 needs to be better informed about what it is to actually be an employee at NFCU. My supervisor did not hold the required monthly one-on-one meetings with her subordinates. I don’t know how she got away with that because they kept saying in the Town Hall meetings that those were guaranteed so that employees stayed on some type of career path. My supervisor also went totally missing - AWOL - for four months. Her supervisor would come to our meetings and say he had not heard from her and she had missed to return to work dates. They allow management to get away with bizarre behavior but if you are not management, you are expected to be there focused 24/7/365 and NEVER make any mistakes out of over 10,000 phone calls you will take per year. If you are not management, you will be treated like you are a grunt employee. There is also too much nepotism. There is so much nepotism at NFCU, it is suffocating. Please take my advice and preserve your professionalism by never touching a job at NFCU with a 10 foot pole. I gave two stars for compensation because, if overtime is available, you can actually break even with your bills.
