Con : From the CEO down, there is a clique that is self-described as "incestuous", having worked together at former companies. When things are going well, they seem like genuinely nice people. But as many discovered, this group loves to gossip about everyone else. They engage in a level of political posturing and slander of their peers that you won't find anywhere else in the industry. Con : They pay well below market. They sell it as, "we're on a mission and we want people willing to sacrifice to join us" or , "think about the equity!!". Yeah, equity that is 100% worthless unless they ever go public (don't hold your breath).

You'll see other reviews that mention a mass layoff event and likely someone in communications/HR will eventually respond to these reviews and play it off due to 'market conditions'...let me tell you it goes so much deeper than that. Here is the scenario, and why it should worry anyone looking to join the organization: within 5 days of the company posting its best quarter ever, well on its way to (another!) record setting year -- 20% of the company was laid off without so much as an explanation other than a vague mention of ‘market forces’. The ‘market forces’ they’ll likely quote stem from an insane YoY growth commit by management to the Board of Directors. Remember when I mentioned the continued record growth? Still not good enough to even come close to the forecast and we all paid the price for it. Now, as far as the families left in the wake, there appears little reason as to who was cut or why. Those of us from the sales org understood what we signed up for, it’s a cutthroat profession. However, at Neat results do not equal security. To put this in context, topping the leaderboard for the quarter did not mark you safe, years of industry experience seemed to carry no weight. Your commitment to, or sacrifices for, the company didn’t keep you around. To those impacted, It’s as if they drew numbers out of a hat – completely baffling. The competition is innovating fast and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have an answer very soon for the features and performance that differentiates Neat in the Market. Neat may soon look back wanting for the experience, expertise, and talent they cast aside – it’s sad really as the company had the single best culture and group of coworkers I’ve ever come across. I’m writing this review not to bash the company, honestly I’ve put it behind me. I still have many friends there so I want it to succeed for them and their families – but for those of you considering applying for a position you need to go in eyes wide open as there’s not telling when, where, or even “If” the rocket ship will land or in what shape it will be when it gets there.
