Pros

Human being co-workers. Get to use their MacBook pros Don't have to shower before work Dogs are cleaner than humans Food trucks No possibility for female/male counterpart distractions free beer for alcoholics!

Cons

-The 1st week I was there, I went to the bathroom and came back to my desk and my $200 pair of Oakleys were gone. They still are. -Internal competition. Lies. lies. lies. -Cut throat city. 6 months after I no longer work at the Nerdery, I still get contacted by a person who worked under me and he thinks he "beat me" and is "winning" because his career advanced and mine did not (even though I was laid off and he didn't get promoted until 5 months later) -Lies -The bathrooms there smell like a huge pile of dead fish, routinely -free beer for alcoholics!

Pros

The coworkers, environment, culture are all reasons i am excited to come in to work everyday. The talent pool is way deep, if you like working with smart folk, then this is the place. There are fine perks (food, drinks, etc) but the people and the drive to always be better than we are mean the most to me.

Cons

growing pains can mess with quite a bit, including livelihoods, career growth and client relations.

Pros

+Nerdy, cool coworkers (for the most part) +A reputation for getting things done (so very true) +Friday end of day event with food and beer every week (the food wasn't terribly great anymore by the time I left) +Friendly dogs for the petting

Cons

-Management: inexperienced -Management: people who have been there the longest may not actually be the best for leading entire departments -Management: secretive, yet allegedly transparent -Bad relationship between certain departments -Bad attitudes and put downs among staff are not unheard of -Nobody really tells you what to do until you do it wrong (and wrong can change from day-to-day) -Inability to think long term I got the feeling that the sudden death of The Nerdery's founder left the ship without a captain. The replacement captain means well, but (imho) is not capable of leading the ship over the next big wave.
