Pros

* You might get some freedom, if you're (very) lucky. * Their interview process was one of the best around Lausanne, which lead them to hire skilled engineers - not sure if that is still the case

Cons

Most of their IT suck. It starts with the clunky infrastructure, heavily based on puppet, with very average sys-admins (some are barely able to write a script or understand the red hat package manager). Unfortunately as a software developer you must get through them to have anything deployed. Then their applications... it starts with the infamous Nesclub2, based on Hybris, written by a cohort of junior Moroccan developers (in Morocco). Then the even worse Nesclub3 supposed to work with SAP (no comment), written by another bunch of juniors (this time from Italy)... A lot of their tools seem to come from the 90's, reflecting their management practices, which is the worst part of Nespresso. Managers (some are called 'architects') are literally clueless and are just good at one thing: politics. That's really what differentiates an engineering company from a cafe company: in a cafe company, IT guys are just seen as labourers that are totally expandable.

Pros

Free coffee each month and staff discounts. Work from home to be away from the office.

Cons

Senior leadership very incompetant here in Australia, Cannot make decisions yet micromanage everyone. Nespresso Vertuo line of machines are a total failure yet they keep trying to flog these despite it well known all Vertuo be a lemon, the internet is full of complaints. Customers expected to pay a premium for coffee when great coffee can be had from a supermarket for half the price and its made at the same Nespresso factory. Nespresso is ripping off customers, no wonder customers are walking away and buying cheaper alternatives. Nespresso is not the premium brand they falsely claim to be. Extreme long hours expected. Not a recommended employer.

Nespresso Response

Dear Colleague, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the pros you outlined around our total rewards package including our free coffee and WFH opportunity. We were disappointed to read your cons specifically connected to the senior leadership team. At Nespresso, we invest in our leaders and employees development so they can work together well and achieve what they aspire in their careers. Given we are demanding and striving for excellence, we want every person to find their right fit within our company. Also we work to offer our employees at Nespresso a market-competitive total rewards package, which includes base salary, bonuses and benefits. Similar to rewards, we focus a great deal on a positive working environment for our employees We believe this balance across several components is important for our people. We would welcome hearing more specifics from you. With your additional comments, we can look further into what you raise. Please reach out to our Nespresso Australia Business Executive Officer, Jean-Marc Dragoli , or contact me directly. Wishing you continued success at Nespresso. Best regards, Guillaume Le Cunff, CEO

Pros

Free coffee although allowance has been halved this year

Cons

Management team are not trained to handle new concept store. The point of sale is so antiquated it does not link up with the eftpos machine. Error is easy and the staff members are blamed for the computer system failure. For instance it is a wharehouse system used in a retail setting. You cannot even scann merchandise you have to find codes. You also are not always allowed to go to the bathroom and beg the manager to do so.
