      'Great place to work' is pure hogwash

      Pros

      Flexible work hours, Work from home.

      Cons

      Lots of problems, I am yet to meet anyone I would call 'smart' in Bangalore centre. Most IITians do not consider it as a worthwhile option. Culture of pretend expertise and incumbent worship is huge. GPTW is no more than a blue pill for the semi drone types, which form the bulk of the engineering team. An aging technology stack keeps getting more and more bloated and ridiculously complex with time. No emphasis on code quality/conciseness, functions with 30k loc and tens of 'if' statements are considered 'routine' when the FOSS community scoffs at anything over 2k. Facing financial distress lately, reasons for which are easy to guess. With btrfs shaping up the way it is, Netapp can only go the HP way. Processes and working styles already are so heavy weight, they have measurable gravitational field. Compensation is inadequate.

      Pros

      Great work life balance (although many, many, many people take advantage of it) Work from home is okay, by manager. Paychecks don't bounce - yet.

      Cons

      POLITICAL, POLITICAL, POLITICAL - Marketing morale is awful, Alliance Management is bleeding people. Middle management (from Group/1st line and up to VP) is clueless about the dissatisfaction and therefore can't fix it. No room for individual growth. Mentoring program is a joke. TOXIC work environment. Only reason it's a GPTW incumbent is because there's an entire HR department dedicated to it - and yearly bonuses are tied to it. Incent people with $ and they'll rate ya, why not?
