Pros

- Great pay. Even the summer interns make more annually than most starting engineers in the Valley. - Good food in the cafeteria. Very expensive and high quality but very cheap (2-9 dollars). - Awesome HR staff. - Beer bashes! - Great benefit plan. - Paid time off for volunteer work.

Cons

- Antiquated equipment. Some of the laptops they give out are T40-T42 series, which aren't exactly the best machines to develop on. - Beer bashes are something like monthly now. - Public still doesn't know enough about NetApp. It may be one of the best companies to work for, but having to explain who you work for to non-techies is annoying.

Pros

My coworkers at NetApp are probably the smartest group of employees I've ever had the fortune of working with. People who underperform tend not to stick around or are driven off. It's also probably the first place I've worked where the HR department isn't useless.

Cons

The hours are extremely long and there is a lot of time spent catching up with customers to respond to questions or resolve their problems. As the consultants are mostly based from home, there isn't a lot of camraderie amongst us. You often go for long periods of time without seeing your coworkers. A lot of time is spent on conference calls.

Pros

Offers great benefits and salaries are above average for the industry. The best technical group you will find to solve problems.

Cons

Depends on the business unit, but SMAI is poorly run due to current GM and Directors. Most of the other units seem to be well run with positive feedback from employees. Middle management makes lame attempts to make decisions for the technical direction of products and process.
