Pros

For folks below senior management, there are many enthusiastic, good people working to do the right thing to make NetApp succeed. They work really hard, collaborate well, represent NetApp's values of Trust and Integrity and Get Things Done.

Cons

I am surprised at the lack of conversation and demonstration among the executives about leadership. There is no well-developed professional or leadership development at the executive level, and none that permeates throughout the organization with any structure. Options at the executive level for lateral moves or promotion are limited, even though there is great growth in the company. Not yet convinced that this is a good company for women and minorities.

Pros

NetApp is in a unique position of being successful and established enough to have cash on hand, excellent revenue growth, great products, and satisfied customers, while at the same time being young and dynamic, with excellent company growth potential. Overall the benefits are very good, compensation is better than market, and if you do your job well it is possible to be rewarded and grow.

Cons

Depending on the organization or manager you work for, sometimes work/life balance is out of whack. The various business units and functions have high expectations and are very demanding, to the point of sometimes being unrealistic, and sometimes wasting time and energy, and burning people out. There is an overemphasis on the importance of delivering new projects, and not enough focus on improving the quality of the tools and solutions already (partially) implemented. In some pockets you will also hear concerns about lack of career growth potential and proper concern for training and development.
