Pros

NetApp is positioned in the industry in such a way that one can gain exposure in many different cutting edge technologies. As a company the culture is wonderful and ripe for learning. Depending on what section of NetApp you work in you can feel as if your getting paid to go back to school.

Cons

Currently, NetApp is in a transition phase. For current the employee, this can be scary but these changes if executed well will place NetApp not just with the current industry but ahead of it and back to being a leader.

Pros

Some top notch people still, everyone I work with on a daily basis is willing to jump in and help. Technology is good but no longer great. Focused on solving customer challenges, not just pushing kit.

Cons

Leadership is failing the folks that remain. Communicating details on changes is slow or non-existent. Over reliance on other vendors to help make our technology relevant. Not retaining the best people anymore Cutting too much muscle and missing too much fat still

Pros

Great people to work with. Excellent work/life balance. Beautiful Sunnyvale campus with a top notch cafe that serves many choices. Nice company gym with free classes, basketball court, and wide selection of equipment.

Cons

Increasing competition from startups (Pure, Nimble, etc.) and poor vision from executives have led to NetApp tanking over the past few years. Company has had yearly layoffs the past 4-5 years which resulted in poor moral amongst the employees. NetApp dropped off the list of Fortune's "100 best companies to work for" for the first time this year (they were once ranked # 1 back in 2009)
