Good company, bad market

Pros

The pay is high and the typical Bay Area culture is good. As is heard in the hallways, we're "kindler and gentler" (than their top competitor, EMC).

Cons

Travel (depending on the position). There's a lot of arrogance about being the best. This may have been true a few years ago, but there's lots of competition in the storage industry now. I think many employees rest on their laurels and are resistant to change. Not that they don't work hard, but they have blinders on and assume their stuff is still the best. cDOT is a good product, but the complexity of moving from "7 mode" is a hinderance to profits. Things aren't necessarily rosy for NetApp as their revenue keeps falling due to competition.

It was a very good company to work for. Good environment. Excellent talent in the team. Lot to learn from peers. flexible office hours

Cons

The compensation was not competitive with market. They paid less than similar tech companies. Growth was very slow.

NetApp very good place

Pros

Good salary and benefits, treats employees with respect, incredible amounts of training, good compensation if laid off

Cons

Newest cluster software never took off so had to reinvent itself, lay off many. NetApp needs to find a way to compete with better OS
