We can create a linked list of management chain with the link property set as personal acquaintence. Talent is irrelevent in selecting people in high positions - favoritism rules. Managers form opinion not based on rsults of work but on the opinion of their favorite "lead". Very bad for energetic neutral engineers who are not "aligned" to management drinking cool-aid. There are quite a few good managers around and if you are lucky to be with them, your life is good. Having few product lines, job rotation is not an option and best way to advance your career path is to leave for a better job.
