      Life at NetApp is pretty good compared to other high tech companies

      Pros

      They treat employees well; lots of perks & freebies; good benefits; nice surroundings; great food in cafe & break rooms. Flexible scheduling when possible. Good teamwork & work ethic. Management more human than some other places. Still opportunities to carve out career paths. Change can happen fast from top down; employee suggestions are often listened to.

      Cons

      Workload can be considerable to impossible. Communications between teams/depts could be better. Middle & lower management not always as good as top management. Change can happen fast from top down; ideas are listened to but implementation can get complicated.

      Pros

      The benefits at NetApp are great and the pay compared to other, non-IT companies is above average. The people who work there tend to be good, fun people on a personal level and are on the whole incredibly bright.

      Cons

      Depending on who is your manager, your experience can vary widely. In general management does not do a good job of making sure information flows all the way down the ladder, nor does it solicit input from those two or more steps below on the hierarchy. It is often said that management is open to input, just make sure it is not something they do not want to hear. Because employees are very intelligent, they also tend to have an ego. This causes friction when neither party can accept that they may be wrong.

      Pros

      The people, the benefitts, the challenges. You have the opportunity to do what needs to be done and you can take the risk.

      Cons

      Due to todays economic culture, layoffs are happening. But the layoffs were a surprise to everyone.
