Pros

New CEO George Kurian is awesome, well- liked & respected, very warm & inspiring. We have an enviable product line, GREAT engineering & development, customers that love NetApp & want to see us succeed. Culture & values are strong and powerful force for good, people really LOVE this company & the respectful approach to business

Cons

CEO Tom Georgens recently asked to step down by board, FAR too many layoffs in recent years- we lose REALLY great people. Morale is taking a hit & we have some in leadership roles that don't mirror the company culture & values...not cool

Pros

- great products - smart people - market leader - good compensation and benefits

Cons

- Senior leaders are reactive, not aligned and constantly shifting priorities. Often times this indecisiveness stalls implementation of great ideas. Projects get thrown into holding patterns and teams churn multiple cycles and waste valuable time and resources because of this. - Most people in mid-level roles are people with long tenures at NetApp and got promoted for sticking around. Unfortunately, their lack of openmindedness and immaturity stifles good ideas and keeps experienced and talented people in a box. - Lots of reorgs - constant state of reactive fire drills caused by indecisive management and competitive pressure - A lot of red tape, for even the simplest of things. - Lots and lots (and lots) of huge egos here, and that makes things difficult - too many people insisting it be their way or the highway. It's a shame to see politics and assanine processes halt progress. There are tons of great people and great ideas that - if implemented in a reasonable timeframe - would put NetApp ahead of EMC years ago and keep us there.

Pros

Beer on fridays. Steady hours.

Cons

Lack of proper training and preparation to support their products. Favoritism, isolation, micromanagement, lack of technical experience within management. Weak internal interaction. Customers are constantly lied to and not supported properly. Netapp makes promises to customers and employees just to make the Fortune and top 100 companies to work for. Employees with lack of storage experienced are hired and told that they would be trained and mentored properly but infact they get thrown on the telephones to answer high end deep knowledge questions where in many cases the customers know more and are told to lie to the customers so they are satisfied with whatever answers are provided until the case is closed or customer is temporarily satisfied.
