      Good company to work for if you are interested in Protocols, Low level coding and in general, Systems programming

      Pros

      Nice work atmosphere, employees and managers are really cool. You might end up having to be a workaholic depending on the team.

      Cons

      Not sure how the company's long term path might fit your careers goals, especially if you are starting as an NCG at NetApp. They do not have too many new projects, so you will end up fixing a lot of Bugs along with a few features. Most of the code has already been developed.

      Product Managers Beware - Stay Away

      Pros

      The company's definition of "best places to work" means "free fruit Tuesdays" and "Bagel Fridays."

      Cons

      Product managers are not respected by anyone, and there are very poor career choices for them. Engineers claim they don't treat product managers well because it's a "engineering-run" company. What BS! The worst middle managers you will find anywhere - insecure and not transparent. People with 10+ years here are just coasting, without doing any work. A lot of people (including those in sales) are leaving, and management's attitude is that instead of doing layoffs, they will not issue replacement reqs. People staying back have to work harder, with no rewards.

      Beer bash on Fridays Compensation is competitive with other companies in the area Most people are hard working and friendly

      Cons

      Health benefits are mediocre Has its share of jerks in middle management that can make your life Hell Last two layoffs have gotten rid of some really talented people while leaving blatantly incompetent people untouched
