Pros

OK salary and benefits. Direct managers were always great but increasingly more toxic as it went up the food chain.

Cons

Frequent layoffs, absolutely no job security, lack of leadership and direction.

Pros

NetApp offers the best paying software engineering jobs in the area. The work culture is fairly relaxed and everyone is easy to talk to.

Cons

The fatal flaw is the management. The whole way up. Nepotism is clearly the way to get promoted here, so don't plan on promotions for working hard. If your direct manager likes you, you'll get promoted and protected. Upper level management has no competence when it comes to the evolving storage industry. There was a constant struggle between engineers wanting to work on what needed get done to have a robust product and some "qualified" individual with an MBA telling them they're wrong. The company will struggle to stay relevant in the coming years if it doesn't listen to its engineers.
