Interesting technology, Questionable executives

Pros

Great people, interesting technology, even though no longer a hot startup still has potential.

Cons

Smarmy sales tactics, exec incompetence and greed led by prior CEO. Hope it changed under Peter but stealing former employee investment by nullifying its value post-acquisition is a big red flag.

Only Management Lives Matter

Pros

- A fast-paced environment, since VPs are always busy promoting themselves - Problems are solved efficiently and perfectly. If anything goes wrong, simply get rid of the person who raises the issue. When everyone shuts up or gets fired, the problem is resolved. And once again, the day is saved, thanks to Mojo Bubbles! - All men are created equal, so they let go competent scientists and brilliant CTO. The official reason is they make NetBase far ahead of competitors - Life in NetBase is always exciting and challenging, since you face all kinds of discrimination. Gender, age, marriage status, nationality, you name it, you get it! You get insulted and depreciated on a daily basis - People are nice to you, if and only if you are in the same clique. If you join the "right" clique successfully, congratulations, you can do whatever you want. Otherwise you get bullied, and it's all your fault - Management are always beyond your imagination. Domain experts don't know the market, and Kotler does not teach you how to win a better title -- only VPs do - NetBase is not a software company, but a political party. Join NetBase to polish your BS skill, and you will be ready to run for senator. Don't be afraid if you do not have a technical background. If you can do elementary school level math, you are not the worst And the best part of the company culture is their CRIAR value: - Customer Focus: NetBase never educates customers; they only focus on those buzzwords that customers know. Management are not capable of defining a roadmap, and they are not interested in the future of the industry and technology - Respect: VPs and directors are sincerely respected, even if they plagiarize members' ideas and credits. All proposals before piracy do not have any business value - Integrity: Read the comments here carefully, and you can find a different definition of integrity. They defame people who give real feedback; only fine-sounding words are encouraged - Agility: They are so agile that they refuse to meet the deadline. Self-discipline means stubbornness; you need to be agile in order to achieve low quality together - Result Oriented: Meeting minutes is the key result they pursue. Some people spend more than 1/3 of their time in meetings. Management spend more than 80%. Some decisions are made before the meetings, others can never be made from one meeting to another

Cons

- Good work-life balance, since there is not much to do. It makes most people forget that it is a toxic and unhealthy environment

Pros

Everyone is really competent and well-suited for their roles--something that I cannot say about other tech companies I've worked for. The work-life balance is manageable since you can work from home, and the benefits are decent.

Cons

Lack of communication between staff and management, and between teams. Information often falls between the cracks between sales/product/customer service.

Pros

Really smart people, sound business strategy, great technology, complex and interesting product that delivers value, flexible work from home schedule to save commute time, good work/life balance

Cons

Usual growing pains can affect agility by introducing bureaucracy. Budget planning can be quite tight, but this is better than spending unwisely.

Pros

- My years at NetBase have been great and I feel lucky to be a part of the company and my team specifically. I get to help our customers in my role, and they appreciate the great technology and services we offer. It’s a win-win – we get to help them, and they love NetBase (the technology and the team). - Every voice is heard and valued, whether you’re a customer or an employee. No politics here. - Our customers are engaged and our advocates. - NetBase employs some of the kindest and best people you’ll ever meet. NetBase is special like that. - My team communicates well and are open with feedback, focusing on being positive and being constructive when something needs improvement. - Employees are trusted since everyone’s contributions are clear and essential. Flexibility is top-notch here. - Company values matter and are both practiced and measured. - Compensation is very competitive.

Cons

Creating a culture can be difficult for any company when many people work remotely. Our leadership team cares about this and is working to make this even better. My team also gets creative and makes the best of it.

Swirling the Drain

Pros

- Customer Success and Engineering teams have some excellent, dedicated staff. - Workplace is nonviolent.

Cons

Management believes that cutting engineering and R&D, and increasing marketing and sales, will save the company. They fail to grasp that this thinking is exactly why product development stagnated. This is what happens when you let a salesman with a layman's understanding of technology and data run a data technology company. The company is going under soon, unless they merge with another failing competitor. The market has been totally commodified and leadership is totally incapable of finding a way out.

Pros

Technology is amazing, vision for products and customer focused is second to none

Cons

CEO is impressed within himself, his vision goes till the next thing comes... Meetings just to settle him down.
