Pros

Culture Values are held to a high standard. There has been a very large emphasis on inclusion & diversity, specifically in the past couple of years. I would say 90% of the people that work there are absolute rock stars. What the company focuses on as a whole is bringing joy to our members and encouraging creativity in storytelling.

Cons

It seems your ability to get promoted depends on your manager or director, and not necessarily if someone has proven themselves capable. There are many teams that promote when someone has shown themselves to be invaluable members of the team at Netflix. However, other teams seem to make promotions a bit political. I have really only seen this with my specific team, which leads me to believe it is involved with our specific leaders and their management styles, not the company as a whole as many other cross-functional teams do not do this.

Pros

- Pay is great, as are benefits. - Great product getting better - Big on diversity and inclusion. - People are fantastic, really no jerks here! - Solid engineering culture - Small company with little politics, process and BS to contend with. - Easy to get help, everyone makes time and is approachable. - You can accomplish a lot if you are motivated and have good ideas. - The logical thing/decision almost always happens. - Amazing focus in the company, very little distractions - Excellent communication flow. There are no secrets, everything is considered “context” that could help you do your job better.

Cons

(To be clear these are all small cons! Netflix really is great!) - Since it’s a small company that only hires A players, teams and scope can be small. - Could be more customer focused. Big focus on innovation, but primarily through the lens of what the data says and what the business values. This could be more balanced. - Stock option Program is decent, but a little complicated and risky. I would prefer RSU or stock purchase plan instead of options. - Location. Los Gatos is great but pretty far south. Not a great commute for most folks, particularly those living in the city.

Pros

Decent benefits, flexible work hours, being part of something dynamic and fluid. Inspiration by some of the best and brightest in the entertainment industry. Reed is an awesome man!

Cons

At times, hostile working environment. Usually temp and tied to mid level mgmt turnovers. Lots of change that sometimes feels like company has gone down the rabbit hole...🙃
